IF YOU’RE A productivity whiz, then you’re probably already aware of Logitech’s MX Master mice series. They’ve carved a niche for themselves as the navigation product of choice for people who want good quality, lots of features, and loads of customization options. The MX Master 3S aims to continue this tradition by building on the success of the MX Master 3 with a brand new higher DPI sensor, quieter switches, and Logitech’s new Bolt dongle which can be used across a range of the company’s new wireless products. Read our Logitech MX Master 3S Review.

The good news is that, by building on such a solid foundation, this remains the best productivity mouse on the market. This is an extremely comfortable mouse to have in the hand for long periods, it feels built to last, and Logitech’s Flow software allows you to move seamlessly between devices and applications. This makes it highly efficient for video editors, programmers, or office workers looking to get stuff done. Sure, you’re paying close to $ for that extra productivity, but for those who are serious about their work, that’s easily a price worth paying.
So what makes this mouse so good? First of all, it’s just so well made, with a luxuriously rubberized finish that’s comfortable to hold for long periods, and a sturdy, made-to-last construction. It’s not a small mouse so is best suited for someone with medium-to-large hands. Bear in mind that the scoop designed to rest your thumb means this mouse will also only suit right-handed people.

Controversially, the biggest change to this model of mouse is that the main click buttons have been switched from ‘clicky’ types to quieter models that Logitech claims are 90 percent quieter. This is great for office workers who respect their co-workers’ sanity, but less so for home workers who might have preferred the more tactile feel. On the flip side, the buttons feel like they require less force, which should help reduce finger strain over time.
The other buttons and wheels on the mouse all feel fantastic, as they did on the previous model. The electromagnetic scroll wheel can be set to freewheel or go tactile, plus there’s a thumbwheel for zooming, horizontal scrolling, or a host of other customizable options. The big change in this model is the sensor, which can go from 200dpi up to 8,000dpi—double the 4,000dpi limit of its predecessor. This means the mouse is better suited to people with multiple monitor setups, as you can navigate around with less movement. The sensor also gets bonus points for working across any surface, including glass.
VALUABLE APP
The MVP of the MX Master 3S, though, is the Logi Options+ app. If you’re working across multiple computers, then it allows you to flow between them with ease. For example, I spend most of my time on a desktop PC, but I always have my work laptop next to me as well. I had the mouse connected to my desktop using the Bolt receiver and also paired to the laptop over Bluetooth, and was able to move between the two with ease, including copying and pasting text.
There’s a slight catch for people running on non-Windows/Mac operating systems such as Linux, where you must manually change between connected devices using a button on the base of the mouse. This process is somewhat fiddly and cumbersome.
Battery life is excellent, rated at 70 days, meaning you only have to remember to charge once every three months or so. The good news is that you can charge while using it, or you can just give it one minute of juice, which will be good for a few hours of use. We’d have loved Qi wireless charging, but we’re glad it uses the newer USB-C standard.
Working from home over the past couple of years got us all thinking more about ergonomics, comfort, and even a little luxury in our working setup. If that’s you, then the Logitech MX Master 3S Wireless mouse fits the bill.
